                  2008 Scholarships Awarded
 
First Choice America has named its ‘People Helping People’ Scholarship recipients. Each will receive $1,000. The five recipients for 2008 (listed in alphabetical order) are:
    Carrie James is a graduate of Oak Glen High School and attends West Virginia University where she is pursuing an Exercise Physiology degree. Carrie resides in New Manchester, West Virginia, with her parents Ronald and Susan James. 
   Kevan LaPosta is a graduate of Weir High School and plans to attend West Virginia University where he will major in Computer Engineering. He is the son of David and Kim LaPosta of Weirton. 
   A graduate of Wheeling Park High School, Mallory Mueller plans to pursue a degree in Marketing. She is the daughter of Carl and Holly Mueller of Wheeling, West Virginia. 
   The fourth recipient, Kristen Thomaselli attends West Virginia University, where she is majoring in Public Relations. Kristen is the daughter of Paul R. and Victoria Thomaselli of New Cumberland, West Virginia.
    Julia Weiss is the fifth recipient. She attended Catholic Central High School in Steubenville, Ohio, and is pursuing a Catechetic degree at the Franciscan 
                      University of
Steubenville. She is the daughter of William and Susanne Weiss of 
                      Steubenville, Ohio.
          The ‘People Helping People’ Scholarships are open to high school and college
students who are primary members of the First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union. Grade point average, scholastic achievements, and community involvement are considered in awarding the scholarships. Applications with complete guidelines for the next school year will be available this October at area high school guidance offices and at the Credit Union’s eight offices.

2008 Easter Seals Telethon


Presenting a $1,000 check at the 2008 Easter Seals Telethon were from left: Tom Modra, First Choice America Wheeling Office Manager; Leigh Ann Towne, WTRF-TV Anchor; Scott Nolte, WTRF-TV Sports Director; and Mel Valentine, First Choice America 
Elm Grove and Medical Park Office Manager.

    For the twelfth consecutive year, the Credit Union employees participated in raising funds for the 2008 Easter Seals Telethon, which was held in Wheeling on Sunday, April 20th. Managers Tom Modra and Mel Valentine attended the Telethon and manned the phones taking pledges. The Easter Seals provides essential rehabilitation programs and services for children with disabilities in the Ohio Valley. This year’s telethon raised $217,439. 
    The Credit Union employees raised over $1,000 by
paying a small donation to wear casual clothes to work once a month throughout the year.
